About Woven Counselling
Andrea assists people in bringing clarity to life challenges. Initially founded to assist people make sense of their cross cultural journey, Andrea will work with you collaboratively to WEAVE these experiences into a client's current life, bringing out strengths and validating the challenges.
Woven Counselling provides general counselling, regardless of race, gender and faith.
Andrea Blake, founder of Woven Counselling has lived in cross cultural situations for over 6 years with her family in France, North Africa and the Pacific Islands.
With a BA in Psychology and Psychophysiology and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling she has experience in counselling adults, children and teens. Andrea has professional membership in PACFA (provisional) and CCAA (Vic, Grad).
Andrea has worked as a counsellor in various environments for over 5 years. She has worked in community counselling, primary and secondary schools, youth organistaions, and for international aid organisations , both overseas and locally.
Andrea also has experience facilitating groups in grief, depression and anxiety.
Andrea has journeyed with children to help them process trauma, grief and behavioural problems.
She uses art and play therapy to assist children find their voice.
Andrea has worked closely with adolescents on many issues including self harm, eating disorders and depression. She has run workshops on depression, giving some young women their first chance to speak of how depression has impacted their lives.
Andrea provides an accepting space to explore the issues currently being experienced by a client. She utilises a variety of counselling techniques, in particular embracing narrative therapy that allows a client to tell their story.
